Inflammation of the joints (and even muscles)
Inflammation of the joints (and even muscles) is the main cause of pain in those areas. Women are especially prone to inflammation and pain because their bodies are always on edge and ready to defend against infection or injury. Stress, whether mental or physical, can also trigger these responses. There are varying types of muscle pain and joint pain that require different methods of action. It is hard to determine when seeing a doctor is ideal, but in certain circumstances it is a requirement for your safety.
When you are feeling severe pain, soreness, or swelling, it is important to go to the doctor. If these sensations last for more than a few days something serious could be going on. Women seem to be the most prone to pains like this, because of hormonal imbalances. This means that women can not only be experiencing signs of osteoporosis, but also ovarian cancer or a type of female reproductive disorder.
This is not to say that men are not capable of experiencing these kinds of pain, but women are more likely to in all instances.
- Remember to be on guard for pain that exists with a fever, swelling, rash, or any other abnormal signs.
- Nausea and vomiting are also important to look for when accompanied with joint and muscle ache.
- Swelling or bleeding or bruising at the site of discomfort or pain.
- Pain that worsens with stress, exhaustion, or weather changes.
- Pain that doesn’t go away, even with the help of medication, prescribed or over the counter.
- Pain that is debilitating.
If pains go untreated for an extended period of time then they could worsen or cause more significant problems later on down the road. If these pains do not subside, doctor care is recommended. If they are accompanied with the flu and you are an elderly individual or child, or diabetic, then treatment is also needed. Otherwise healthy individuals usually have nothing to worry over if they experience minor pains while sick with a cold or after exercise.
Your healthcare provider should be able to diagnose and treat your condition rapidly to minimize down time. Diagnosis of specific disorders can be done through blood tests, x-rays, MRI’s or cat scans. Sometimes second opinions are need in the event of rare problems or cancer.
